Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to TeachQuill servers?

No. All compression and conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device, which keeps student photos and classroom materials private.

What image formats can I compress or convert?

You can upload JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP, and AVIF. Output formats include JPEG, PNG, and WebP. AVIF output is available when your browser supports it.

Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos?

HEIC/HEIF is not supported in the browser yet. Export the photo as JPG from your Photos app or Files app, then upload it here.

How does compression work?

Choose Compress and adjust the quality slider. Images keep their original dimensions — only encoding quality changes to reduce file size.

Is this tool free for teachers?

Yes. The image compressor and format converter is free with no login required — the same as our Markdown to HTML tool.
